Water Allocation Toolondo Reservoir

Client - Grampians Wimmera Mallee Water and Fisheries Victoria

Location - Toolondo VIC

Contract Period - June 2015 to July 2015

Project Overview and Scope

Hunter H2O acted as a specialist advisor to Grampians Wimmera Mallee Water, Fisheries Victoria and the Toolondo Reservoir Recreational Fishery Advisory Group to determine how Toolondo Reservoir can be sustained as a permanent high quality recreational fishery either within existing water storage management rules and objectives, by amending existing water management objectives/rules, or through changed operating practices. Hunter H2O facilitated stakeholder workshops and prepared a technical report outlining available options and detailed recommendations for consideration by the Victorian Government.

The project required multi-disciplinary and high level skillsets. These covered hydrology, hydraulics, water resource management, a detailed working knowledge of Victoria’s system of tradeable bulk water entitlements, costing of physical upgrade options, appropriate qualitative techniques for facilitating workshops and an ability to incorporate piscatorial and environmental science into an appropriate decision making framework.
