Capacity Building – Yangon Wastewater Treatment, Myanmar
This project was undertaken under the Asian Development Bank Water Operators Partnerships Twinning Utilities for Better Service. This partnership was set up to enhance international support for implementing effective and targeted capacity building in developing countries.
We partnered with Yangon City Development Committee in Myanmar to develop a training program for the mostly young female sanitation engineers operating the Yangon Wastewater Treatment Plant. The applied theory course was developed by our wastewater process specialists and included site visits and hands on training both at the plant and onsite laboratory.
The major objective of this project was for capacity building and technology transfer. This included the development and delivery of the training course and provision of new testing equipment. Hunter H2O also provided advice for the redevelopment and improvement for the onsite laboratory, which was carried out by YCDC creating a leading facility in water testing for the region.
