Nathan Dick

Process Engineer

Nathan came to Hunter H2O as an undergraduate and has since gained five years’ experience in the water and wastewater industry, including in operational and engineering roles. He has provided operational assistance at water treatment plants throughout regional NSW and Victoria . This has given him insights to working with operators who have a wide range of experiences and understanding of the treatment process within a variety of organisational cultures . Based on these experiences

Having completed a 15-month secondment to SA Water’s Wastewater Expertise team in 2019, he gained an insight into the planning and delivery of a variety of wastewater projects from the client’s perspective. He acted as owner’s engineer for several upgrade projects at Bolivar WWTP, as well as acting as SA Water’s process representative for the Bolivar Framework, which involved engaging with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the best possible outcome for the client. A large part of his time with SA Water was spent as process lead for the Sewer Network Odour project, during which he gained experience in the investigation, planning and delivery of infrastructure, as well as coordinating operational responses to emerging odour issues. He was involved in the delivery of the Christies Beach Aeration Review and the Glenelg Aeration and IFAS Review, involving processing and statistical analysis of large data sets and development of hydraulic models incorporating plant aeration and flow data.

Nathan is involved in the operation of a small sewage treatment plant run by Hunter H2O on behalf of Port Waratah Coal Services. The project has given him practical experience in the long-term operation and maintenance of pumping, chemical dosing, biological nutrient removal, filtration and UV disinfection systems with SCADA control.

Nathan has also performed process and instrumentation (P&ID) audits at Cleveland Bay WWTP and Kurri Kurri WWTP. These audits involved the reconciliation and updating of existing P&IDs to match the current site configurations.
