What a brilliant day to mark the official opening of Tamworth Regional Council’s Manilla Water Treatment Plant – the biggest water infrastructure investment in Manilla for more than 60 years.

Opening the event was Tamworth’s Director of Water and Waste, Bruce Logan, joined by Mayor Russell Webb, along with Member for Tamworth and NSW Minister for Lands and Water, Kevin Anderson.

Proud members of Hunter H2O were in attendance including treatment plant detailed design team representatives Executive Manager Paul Thompson and Technical Director (Water) Dr Craig Jakubowski. Final contract price for the facility totalled $19M.

The new plant will meet the town’s usual consumption needs and be capable of producing up to 3.5 megalitres of drinking water a day when necessary. The design of the water treatment processes at the new plant will ensure that water quality meets the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines when the Manilla River or Namoi River water or both sources are being used.
